webcam logitech c270 microphone chipmunk effect

Hi all,

I have this webcam that I didn't use for a long time and I remember worked perfectly.
The thing is that now it works only sporadically and most of the times gives the infamous chipmunk effect.

AFAIK this problem was fixed long ago via the patches that are found in this ancient thread

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=121607

There it is mentioned that the patches were mainlined in the kernel.
Except that now they are not!
If I check the kernel source there is no entry in the quirk file for 046d:0825.

What should I do?
I am not really expert on how to deal with this.

A bug report perhaps? On arch or upstream?

EDIT: It appears that applying the patch doesn't solve the problem and  the chipmunk voice is still there.
For full disclosure, I set the frequency to 48000 Hz in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf but it doesn't work
