Desktop Enviroments stopped working

Hi!

I've got ArchLinux installed on a Virtual Machine (Parallels Desktop). It worked pretty fine till the other day (I'd say last Friday, but I'm not sure) when I installed the flat-remix theme and made a big update. Today I turned on the VM after a few days.

At first I got an error telling me that /dev/sda1 (boot) was currupted and to use fsck to solve it. So I did and now I don't have any error like that (checked in dmesg).

But then it keeps stop booting. It freezes at:

[time] ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND, EValuating _PRS (20170831/pci_link-176)
starting version 238
/dev/sda3: clean, n/m files, x/y blocks

And then it just won't move.

I changed teminal and logged in to try to start the interface manually. I'm using Xorg as desktop server and gdm as desktop manager. If I try starting it with startx it will give me:

Which doesn't really give more help, in my opinion.

As you can read from the log file I'm using vesa driver.

As last I tried to restart gdm.service but didn't work, so I looked at its status:

Again I've tried looking up for any solutions to "Could not start command '/usr/lib/gdm-session-worker': Too many open files" and "GLib: g_child_watch_add_full: assertion 'pid > 0' failed", but no solution worked for me.

I hope somebody can help me!

Re: Desktop Enviroments stopped working

If you have problems when starting X (includes display manager problems) the problem cause often lies before X starts.
Boot into console mode aka multi-user.target , see systemd wiki page for details .

Post full output of lspci -k , dmesg , journalctl -b .
(these tend to be big, consider using a pastebin client )

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
