Best way to create custom keyboard

Hi,
I've been searching wiki and there are just few articles about which files could be edited but I don't know how. I've read something about xkbcomp but there is not much documentation. So I'm looking for explanation or tutorial how to edit output of xkbcomp properly or another easy to use command for keyboard layout creation.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Best way to create custom keyboard

Thanks I'll definitely try that. And I need to add Czech characters under alt-gr so I'm considering xmodmap is it good idea? I need to add around 20 characters.

Xmodmap will be fine.  If you want multiple keyboard layouts simultaneously, setxkbmap will be necessary.  Keyboard layout customization is a common task.  The wiki has you covered.
