New ATI drivers support XOrg 7.1

... And apparently a bunch of other things too. I think this could be the first time ATI's beaten nVidia to the punch on Linux drivers.

Edit: link is now correct... Wow, that was the worst screwup I've made in some time, sorry guys. lol

nvidia have chunked out a couple  of new cards in quick succession and the software boys are still catching up. The 9xxx drivers on Windows are still pretty shoddy in the right (or wrong?) conditions so I'm not expecting 9xxx linux drivers for a couple of months sad

Re: New ATI drivers support XOrg 7.1

Hey,

I'm looking for a video-card and since the ogp ogc1-card isn't out yet, I as thinking about buying an ATI-card. I may buy an agc1-card anyway afterwards ... Why an ATI-card for now. Well, I want opensource-drivers, so that I have hopefully less problems wehn upgrading to a new kernel, ... and they seem to have 3D-support in their opensource drivers.

Anyway, I foudn this helpfull page about the recent state of tha TI opensource-drivers. It's nicely explained to my opinion: http://megahurts.dk/rune/r300_status.html

Greetings,

Michel
