Hello everyone,
After many research, I don't know how to solve that. I'm running KDE with 4.16 kernel, graphic card NVIDIA GTX1050. Sometimes, I have a pop up who says : Desktop effects were restarted due to a graphics reset. This is happening everytime I launch a program. When this is happening, my taskbar disappear. I tried to reset the .config file. But the problem is still there. This part of the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KD … leshooting seems not to help neither ![]()

What is the output of the qdbus command mentioned in that wiki section ?
Does disabling desktop effects and/or compositing help ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Thanks for your answer
Disable compositing, when i reboot Plasma, seems to solve the problem, actually.
There is no way to manage this, when this is on ? This is a copy of the output. I tried to switch openGL 3.1 -> 2.0 , uncheck allow applications to block compositing. Nohting helps when compositing is on. In that output, compositing is on.
Edit : After switching XRender, and rebooting plasma, it seems to be a little better
This topic https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topi … s-384-90-/ seems to confirm XRender is the solution...

There's a shortcut key combo to enable/disable compositing, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KD … ompositing
Other then that, falling back to xrender seems the best chance to reduce the issue.

thanks for the tip.
I hoped 4.16.4 + new Nvidia Drivers solves that but no. Staying on XRender, so. Problem solved. Thanks Lone_Wolf.

Hmm can you run other OpenGL software correctly? That reads like some hardware access issue. If you're lucky just a driver issue, or maybe something is tripping your hardware up. FWIW I don't have any issues with an Nvidia Titan X

Hi V1del,
Apparently, every software using openGL make this problem appear. Vivaldi browser, Atom text editor makes blinking my taksbar and/or Kwin crashes. Btw, it's running correctly before/after kwin crash. Even if I keep openGL up. This machine is very recent. 1 month and a half i would say. This is not a reason, but the information may be usefull for you.
Do you think add this file can help ? I didn't add this file for now. It's just a copy paste from the wiki

No no config file is usually a safe default and will not change anything in that regard, you shouldn't use fullcompositionpipeline while using a compositor like KWin anyway.
Ist it only the desktop effect reset that happens or you you notice anything else not working/looking as it should.
Offline
Well, when the desktop effects are resets, symptoms are, the taskbar disappears (except the graphical elements on it, like icons, clocks...) , the clock freezes, and the quick launch icons i made just by clic and drop are visually mixed. Atom is Vivaldi, Konsole is Atom and more... And clicking on them don't minimize the open window but open a new one.
