Samba missing dependency

I installed samba-3.0.23-2 package today via pacman and when I started samba it could not find a dependency libdb-4.4.so.
libdb-4.so and libdb-4.3.so are in /usr/lib but not libdb-4.4.so.
Is this a dependency bug in the samba package?

Is there any way of working around this to get samba working?

Re: Samba missing dependency

Still using samba 3.0.22A-3 here, due to other, serious problems that popped up after upgrading.

Re: Samba missing dependency

Cerebral, I can't refresh my package list at the moment, as the repositories are temporarily unavailable according to pacman.

My last refresh was only a few days ago.

Scarecrow, is there any way to install an older package of samba with pacman?

Re: Samba missing dependency

old, cached packages are located in /var/cache/pacman/pkg - find your old samba one there and install it with pacman -U.

Re: Samba missing dependency

Thanks cerebral, but this was the first time I had installed samba so there is no old package!!

However, the problem has been solved.

As you said I needed to upgrade the db package. I did not realise for some time that the db you referred to was the package that loaded libdb.

I needed to upgrade both db and glibc to get samba working.

But now that is done samba is starting fine.

Thanks again.
