about my arch

hEllo.. here is a info for my cpu:

vendor_id       : GenuineIntel
cpu family      : 6
model           : 5
model name      : Pentium II (Deschutes)
stepping        : 2
cpu MHz         : 434.067

I wonder if i recompile base packages with i586 optimization will i have better performance?Or for better performance i need to recompile all pkgs / kde base and etc / not only base?In the moment i'm with i686 arch and all is really fast....:)

Re: about my arch

pentium II is i686 so there's no need for you to recompile anything. you'd be wasting your time, you wouldn't feel much of a difference (it could even be slower...).

Re: about my arch

Just look at the "CPU family", replace the X in x86 with the number of the CPU family and voila, that's the processor architecture!

AFAIK, pentium pro and pentium 2 are both i686 and normal pentium is i586.
