These are the steps I have followed -
1. Went to https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/discord .
2. Downloaded the 68.2 MB discord-0.0.5.tar.gz .
3. Tried to run 80.4 MB executable Discord file.
- Opens the interface but gives the message "Well this is awkward. Looks like discord has crashed unexpectedly."
4. Copied the PKGBUILD and placed it in the unzipped discord package folder.
5. Ran
makepkg -si
.
- Get error message -
==> ERROR: install file (Discord.install) does not exist or is not a regular file.
==> ERROR: An unknown error has occurred. Exiting...
Please help. I feel there is a very minor thing I am missing since I can actually see the discord client open on the computer, but it crashes for some reason.

I'd say either clone it or use the 'Download snapshot' to grab the required files for the package.

I downloaded the snapshot, untarred it, and ran makepkg -si but I am getting the error -
error: target not found: libc++
==> ERROR: 'pacman' failed to install missing dependencies.

You need to install the aur dependencies first.
