Hello all,
I booted off of an Arch live USB with no problems, but running `ls /sys/firmware/efi/efivars` output that there was no such directory.
I assume this means my laptop is in BIOS mode, but what I don't understand is whether that matters. From what I've read on the wiki, it seems like the mobo needs to be in UEFI mode for Arch to boot once I get it installed, but I'm confused after seeing that more than a few of the instructions in the Installation guide say they only need to be done "if UEFI is enabled."
Do I need to do anything extra to somehow "enable UEFI" on my computer? There's no mention of that option anywhere in the BIOS.
Thanks.

Is your board a UEFI or BIOS board?

And just for the record, Arch can boot fine with either BIOS or UEFI. The only real difference (I mean from a user perspective) is how you configure your bootloader or boot manager and how you partition your disk.

No, this is incorrect. Arch runs fine on BIOS systems (I'm currently on one). But as you have noted, there are steps that differ based on whether you have a BIOS of UEFI system - so you just need to know which one you have.

It's a BIOS board. I was just confused on whether or not the board needed to be one type or the other to boot Arch, but apparently it doesn't
Thanks!
