Arch unstable after latests update -- rofi & xfce4-terminal

I've updated arch linux recently.

First of all, I cannot replace compositeproto with extra/xorgproto  (( and dozens of packages like that )). I have error libxfont: removing fontsporot break dependency 'fontsproto>=2.1.3'

Second, I cannot start rofi (( exit code 139, which is SIGSEGV )) and xfce4-terminal on right click crashes. In journalcrl I see some stack trace related to  ld-linux-x86-64.so.2

xfce4-terminal crashes on the right click, I cannot find stack trace for it.

Also nm-applet crashes after the update. Chrome, goland work normally, firefox crashes. Atom works normally.

Please search before posting, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=234361

I don't even want to ask how you updated despite the conflict, but it's the cause of (at least most of) your other issues.

Re: Arch unstable after latests update -- rofi & xfce4-terminal

Thank you for the link.

I updated whole system, inclucing AUR packages. I passed through the instructions provided. I had fontconfig problems which I "solved" by dirty fix found on arch forums.

the problem persists, and it's worse.  Now chrome crashes too with SIGSEGV. Goland, polybar, i3, continue to work.

xfce4-terminal crashes on right click.

I've pasted journalctl -b -p 3 output there with core dump's stack trace

Post your /var/log/pacman.log and

pacman -Qm

.

Re: Arch unstable after latests update -- rofi & xfce4-terminal

All crashes seem in dlopen - did you reboot after the update?
But in general, this smells like a bad symlink to some libc or libdl shared object.

Also output of

pacman -Qkk

We need to know exactly what you did or how are we supposed to help?

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Re: Arch unstable after latests update -- rofi & xfce4-terminal

/var/log/pacman.log (since March 2018)
http://ix.io/1a38

pacman -Qm
http://ix.io/1a35

Pacman -Qkk
http://ix.io/1a36

Yes, I did reboot multiple times.

as for font hackery:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 7#p1778447

(( I didn't think it was relevant, since font failure is pretty loud and clear  and I lost access to browser, which makes things harder. I tried finding statically compiled chrome/firefox, but to no avail ))

Re: Arch unstable after latests update -- rofi & xfce4-terminal

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 7#p1778447 is not a resolution of the  libxfont/fontsproto conflict.

This translates to "hello disaster" ...
The problematic package seemed to have been icu (untracked present files)?
So the issue is probably in this area and lo and behold:

icu: 257 total files, 60 altered files

Fix that package and then write 1000 times
"I will not use the force switch unless I *really* know what I do!"

And don't you dare to use cnp ...

Ok! I did it because I installed some pip packages with sudo...this system has been used a long time, and as such a lot of stuff I should clean someday

> And don't you dare to use cnp ...

cnp?

I ran:

pacman -Qnq | sudo pacman -S -

which seems to fix things. I'll use the system for next few days, and if everything's alright, I'll mark it as solved.

Re: Arch unstable after latests update -- rofi & xfce4-terminal

Copy 'n paste. That'd be too simple :-P

I'm not terribly sure that fixed stuff. Ensure "LC_ALL=C pacman -Qkk | grep -v ', 0 altered files'" doesn't yell huge amounts of altered files and notably not in really fundamental ones (those w/ tons of dependencies)

This is all that has altered files.

There's a lot of:

warning: jackett: /usr/lib/jackett/Definitions/zelkaorg.yml (Modification time mismatch)

backup file: i3lock: /etc/pam.d/i3lock (Modification time mismatch)
backup file: i3lock: /etc/pam.d/i3lock (Size mismatch)

stuff like this, Size/modification time/GID.

How can a file become altered under normal usage? Is this like changing default /etc files or something else?

Re: Arch unstable after latests update -- rofi & xfce4-terminal

It's typically altered configs, yes.
And apparently sth. changed file ownership in /usr/lib/jackett/Definitions/
