I have the rtl8723be wifi card and i use the linux-lts and
cat /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf
options rtl8723be ant_sel=2 fwlps=0
was working very good ..
one solution that I tried is to downgrade linux-lts and linux-lts-headers
and ingored the pkgs on /etc/pacman.conf
should i be on downgrade for long or sometime in the future should i upgrade ?

You should be a little more precise about your problem.
1) What is exactly your problem? What do you mean by not working properly?
2) Have you tried to remove the options in modprobe.conf? Why do you use them?
3) Does your wifi work properly with an older lts kernel? Have you tried with the normal (non lts) kernel?

1) the problem doest show any network but only when i go close to router
2) yes i tried
3) yes i am using old kernel at moment . the non-lts have same issues

Sounds superficially like you are getting the antenna select wrong. You are forcing it in the options, and (I think you meant) it only works when you get very close to the router.

I have the same problem. I solved it before installing linux-lts, but today, it doesn't work right.

I was about to post about this as well. Larry finger mentioned something about Realtek messing up the ant_sel code for the driver in 4.16. Maybe this code was backported to 4.14.40.
Workaround for now is to downgrade to 4.14.39 (should be in your cache). Other than that, we'll have to wait for 4.17 or compile/dkms from Larry's rtlwifi_new github.
EDIT: I can confirm the code was backported. See the changelog here
EDIT2: As posted by lo1 here, the issue is fixed by upgrading to 4.16.8 and setting ant_sel to 1. This thread should be marked as solved.
