[Solved] How to switch off the auto hibernation

Hi,

Recently (last month or so) my computer has been hibernating, soon after gnome has locked the screen. This is great.

However occasionally, I've left it doing something, ripping a CD, or running some code. Then hibernation isn't want I want.

So how do I switch of the auto hibernation, just for a few days, then I'll switch it back on again?

I've tried searching Arch Power Mangement, but can't see what is doing the hibernation.

Anyone any idea?

David

Re: [Solved] How to switch off the auto hibernation

Is there not a setting in gnome-settings that covers this?

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Ta both. I wasn't sure if it was Gnome or systemd that was into hibernation. I look in both, but alas didn't follow up the GDM ...

Thanks both.

Re: [Solved] How to switch off the auto hibernation

alas not yet solved, the link in the first reply suggested:

sudo -u gdm dbus-launch gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type 'nothing'

but this gives the error "No protocol specified". But now I've been given a starting place I'll dig some more ....

Re: [Solved] How to switch off the auto hibernation

Actually the command above works, when run as a usual user, rather than as gdm. This stops the machine hibernating when the gnome screen saver kicks in, which is the case I wanted to cover. So handbrake has busily been ripping a DVD overnight ...

I'll make this thread solved.
