IWD: the new WPA-Supplicant Replacement

Heyho,
I just want to inform you all that I have pushed IWD version 0.3 into community.
IWD is a new wireless daemon and aims to replace wpa_supplicant in the future.
I have created a first wikipage for the package as well here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Iwd

IWD comes with a more secure approach. It doesn't use OpenSSL or GnuTLS. Instead it uses different Kernel functions for cryptographic operations.

If you want to know more you can checkout this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2Q86cphKDo

Re: IWD: the new WPA-Supplicant Replacement

How to make settings permanent? (AP, passphrase etc.?)

Something similar to /etc/wpa_supplicant/*.conf?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/WP … figuration

i.e without running following on every boot:

# iwctl

[iwd]# device wlp2s0b1 connect TestWPA2

Nothing is mentioned in Wiki about it.

Interesting, I must give this a try.

I suspect that is handled by NM or connman.

amish: don't turn this into a support thread: persistence is working fine for me. You have misconfigured something: open a thread in the proper board with journal details.

Shibumi: thanks for this, it is very cool!

# edit: started a thread for early adopters https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=237074

Ok didnt know that this thread was not meant for further discussion. Will post more in the other thread that you opened.

PS: It wasnt clear to me (it wasnt mentioned in wiki as well) that passwords are persistent. (without needing config files).

passwords are persistent. They should be saved automatically. Some people have updated the wiki article, check it out.
