I don't know where on the board this question should go, but here it is.
I was looking through the AUR for a printer driver, namely the cnijfilter-ip1800series 2.70-1 pkg. Looking through the dependency list, libxml is marked in red. I cannot for the life of me find a libxml package for Arch anywhere.
My question is this: Is there a certain section on the forum to request a package be made such as this, or am I going to have to find the libxml source package from back in 2002, and try to compile myself? I haven't done any programming since HS so I do not know how rusty I will be
Thanks!

The dependency is only for i686 which arch no longer supports. Assuming you are running on X86_64 dependencies marked i686 will not be used.

Yeah I get that. I was more hoping someone still had a 32 bit system or repo around that I could grab it from heh. I mean I personally do not see the point in that package even being in the AUR to begin with if the dependencies cannot be met. And it was put there this year in fact!
Thanks

You missed his point. There is no missing dep; the one you're pointing to is only applicable if you're on an i686 system, which you're not if you're on Arch.

I'd imagine creating a libxml PKGBUILD based on lib32-libxml shouldn't be too difficult.

And likely unnecessary.
Edit: not likely, totally unnecessary and wrong.

Aaaaah ok I see what you're saying. So basically it's a lost cause then no?
Thanks

No, it's not a lost cause. You're making an issue out of nothing. The deps are satisfied just fine. Try it.

I assumed OP was using i686. Of course you don't need libxml on x86_64.

If OP was using 32bit they wouldn't be asking for support here...
