[SOLVED] VLC and Dragon: Segmentation Fault

Both VLC and Dragon do not launch and crash instantly with a segmentation fault.
I already tried the suggestions in the wiki, but vlc-cache-gen also throws a segfault and deleting plugins.dat has no effect.
I also tried reinstalling vlc and starting with prepending

env LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0

to the respective commands as suggested under this bug report from March, which enables vlc to start but causes it to claim that the h264 codec is not supported.
Trying to build and install vlc-git from the AUR fails with

/bin/sh: line 4:  2944 Segmentation fault      (core dumped) ./vlc-cache-gen `realpath ../modules`

Is there anything else I could try?

You only mentioned that in passing but I feel that it is pretty crucial to the issue. Are you doing partial upgrades? Post a pacman.log and

pacman -Qs ffmpeg
pacman -Qs vlc
pacman -Qs x264
pacman -Qs glib2

Also FWIW post a proper core dump

Are you doing partial upgrades?

I don't think so, although it could be possible that I have at some point accidentally forgotten to do an -Syu upgrade before installing a new package with -S...

Rebuilding ffmpeg-full solved it!

aurman --rebuild -S ffmpeg-full

yep, having an AUR package for something as centerpiece as ffmpeg you should pay attention to other multimedia packages like the x265/x264 packages and rebuild it in response, should they be updated.
