[SOLVED] modprobe not working

Typing "modprobe <whatever>" yields a "FATAL: Could not load /lib/blahblah/modules.dep: No such file or directory".
The file exists, it comes up with ls.

I'm trying to load a couple of modules (one for the mouse and the other for the network card) and neither work.

Re: [SOLVED] modprobe not working

I had done that before modprobe, I typed "depmod -a".

Same story. Awful.

Maybe there's a problem with the modules.dep file?
