Having trouble setting up DM

Hey,

So. I set up Lightdm according to ArchWiki. When I test run it (and/or boot with it), all I am greeted by is a blinking cursor on the top left of my screen. My greeter screen was lightdm-gtk-greeter and I did make proposed modifications to lightdm.conf as well as put the .desktop file in xsessions, no luck. I could, though, switch to another tty and do things. As a matter of fact, while i was test running it, I could switch tty and the DM would stop and I could see the steps he had taken to start lightdm as well as stopping it, but no real error came out of it. The only REAL error had something to do with plymouth.

So I tried installing SDDM and trying it. Turns out it's worse. On boot, I am greeted by ACPI errors (which are just normal at this point, it's a firmware bug and it never prevented me from booting ever on at least 5 other distros). But right below these there is a cursor that is blinking super fast (not regular blinking, the cursor is like The Flash's son or something Idk). I tried switching to tt2, but it seems as though when I do that it constantly switched between tty2 and the tty in which SDDM is. So I can't log in as root or any user for that matter.

Edit : Sorry forgot to give my specs : Inspiron 5577 Gaming so Optimus is there. I had a fresh nvidia driver with Bumblebee installed. This is usually EVERY hardware problem I have but idk about this time.

Anyone has any clue what to do about that?

Thanks,

Re: Having trouble setting up DM

I can't, it will not allow me to type consistently, therefore I can't even type root in 4 key strokes, imagine inputing a 40 letters long password.

Re: Having trouble setting up DM

Systemd#Change_default_target_to_boot_into to multi-user.target then you can stop and disable the DM.
You could also have used live media chrooted in then disabled the service as well.
