The CD wont boot.

I have downloaded and burned arch-0.7.2.iso to a CD-R and I have put it in my computer. The thing is that when I reboot my computer it just starts like usual, ignoring the CD. I have tried the CD on another computer and it worked there. I have also tried to setup the bios so it will boot from the CD-ROM as the primary device, but it doesn't help. please help me.

Re: The CD wont boot.

BIOS settings would have been my first thought too.  Are you able to boot to other CDs aside from Arch?

Re: The CD wont boot.

I tried with a windows-CD and I got the same problem here even though I have used this windows-CD before without problems. I can try to burn a new as a last resort because I don't have many spare disks.

BTW I have two CD-ROMs, one is able to burn, does this affect the problem? (I have tried the CD in both of them)

Re: The CD wont boot.

I had this same issue on what is now my router and it turned out the drive was dieing. If you have a cleaning CD around I found playing that a few times made it boot. Which still doesn't make sense to me.

There is a chance I know what I am talking about.

Re: The CD wont boot.

I think i have located the problem now. It seems that my BIOS doesnt know that i have a CD-ROM drive. Is there anyone who knows how to make the BIOS detect the CD-ROM?

Re: The CD wont boot.

Depends on your BIOS. Amibios for example shows each device then you press page Down/Up to select different devices sucha as CD, HDD, etc.

Take a look at your computer's bios type and go to their (the manufacturer) website to find out more.

I solved the problem  big_smile
I opened my computer and reconnected the cables randomly until it went well.
