Ufff pacman is so slow...

I have read some topics relationated with the database's speed but my problem  happens in this process.

checking package integrity... done.

It takes around 2-3 minutes, i think it is so much... Besides when pacman execute ldconfig after installing each package it takes 2-3 minutes and if i am installing 10 or 15 packages it turns a hell of waiting.
How does apt-get work? i have a very old pc ( a mmx with 48mb in ram) and apt-get is a thunder in comparison with my athlon xp with pacman...

I had this same problem using reiserfs (v3). Changing to ext3 fixed this problems... On the other side, searching packages is now a lot slower.

And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you though?

Do you run pacman-optimize regularly?

If you want a more permanent solution, search for the pacman-cage and pacman-uncage scripts.
