Not sure when this started - I don't use removable media all that often. Has to be sometime in the last few weeks. I've got several Arch installs, its affecting all of them.
When I unmount a removable device, I'm no longer seeing the normal umounted (or the "writing data") notification. Other desktop notifications work as normal. As a test, I enabled the automount function in Xfce. I am seeing notifications when a removable device is mounted, but nothing when the device is unmounted. I added the notification plugin to the panel and enabled logging. Other notifications show up and are logged, but there is no sign of the unmount notification at all.
In an attempt to narrow the problem down, I've reverted to the earliest version of Thunar that I had locally. Hasn't helped. So I suspect that the problem is caused by some underlying function, but I don't know how to fix the problem, or who to report the bug to. Any suggestions welcome...
I'm also interested in knowing if other Xfce users are seeing the problem, or whether its something peculiar to the way I install/configure Arch.

All I can add is that is works here:
1. plugged in a usb stick
2. I get a notification for each partition
3. I umount a partition
4. I get a notification that the partition is unmounten
5. I get a notification when I unplug the usb stick
For the record: On my system, udiskie does the job of automounting, but I wonder if this should make the difference

Thanks. That helps a lot. Had to check (since it was pulled in as part of the Xfce install..), but it seems that all my installations are using udisk2, which hasn't been updated since February. Looks like something in the recent Thunar update has broken part of udisk2. I'll change to udiskie and see what happens.
