I am trying to run Bar Ilan Reponsa (a Windows app) in Wine and I see this:

winetricks msxml3 dotnet20 gdiplus riched20 riched30 vcrun2005sp1 allfontsas I saw somewhere it might help, but it doesn't. I did find this forum post from ten years ago https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=3202 that says this app uses nethasp, but I am not sure if that's true today or not.
When I launch the app, I do indeed see the message "Please insert the original USB disk and try again!" and the USB dongle is of course in my PC so it appears that the issue is the protection system they use.
Any ideas how I can fix this?

Try installing lib32-gnutls and lib32-libldap.
That said protection systems like these usually use very windows kernel specific features that aren't implemented in wine, and https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. … &iId=31169 seems to suggest that this doesn't work properly.
Naturally you shouldn't ask us for information on how to circumvent these measures, should installing above mentioned packages not be enough https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … t#Legality

I installed lib32-gnutls and lib32-libldap but the results are the same. This person:
https://whatsup.org.il/index.php?name=P … 072#312072
said he got it to work in 2009, but his post is in Hebrew. He writes there anyhow that he did it by adding mfc42.dll and then the configuration as listed there.
The app in question works in my VirtualBox, it's just a bit slow so I want it in Wine. So I copied mfc42.dll from c:/Windows/System32 in VirtualBox to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/mfc42.dll and that indeed fixed one problem. Seems there's just one error left now:

In terms of wine (respectively if running 32bit versions of windows software) you almost always need the lib32- versions of packages. That error as it stands wouldn't be there if you had lib32-mpg123 installed. Other errors might pop up as informational info and might not actually result in an issue.

I added lib32-mpg123 and it's getting closer. Now the original ntlm_auth error came back. ![]()
I thought maybe because of the env variables that I set, as above, so I unset those both and also removed and then re-installed Wine and winetricks but now I get:
