lightdm freezing as soon something is typed
hi.
I've just upgraded my system (pacman -Syu) and after reboot and I can't login into budgie from lightdm.
lightdm is freezing as soon as I type something. be it my password (no dot is shown for the character I typed) or ctrl-alt-f2.
cursor stops blinking and mouse is unresponsive.
I am gonna boot a usb key and chroot and install gdm, but given this a netbook with limited ressource I would like to avoid that.
Anyone got that problem too ?
I'll know more once I can see the log, may be.
Edit:
Now with gdm, it's budgie desktop that froze once I have logged in !!! wtf !
And nothing in the syslog
I had to install gnome :-( 200Mb of memory wasted

If ctrl+alt+f2 (any VT swich) fails, this is rather a kernel issue. Try behavior w/ the LTS kernel.

As this is finally working with gdm+gnome shell I don't see that as an indication it is related to a kernel issue.
Also a kernel issue is more likely to trigger traces of something unexpected in the log. I don't see anyhting

GDM/Gnome is likely to run on wayland.
The VT switches (Ctrl+Alt+F<x>) are kernel level shortcuts. If they fail, the issue is with the kernel.
