Is there an easy way to test for HDCP on Nouveau? I'm trying to watch Prime video, but I get a message of 'HD Video Unavailable'. Is HDCP even possible on Nouveau, or should I switch back to Nvidia propriety drivers?

I'm guessing this is about Amazon Prime Video ?
That doesn't depend on videocard driver, but on a browser plugin, Widevine DRM .
for firefox see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fi … azon_Video
Chromium : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ch … ule_plugin
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Yes, this is. Title edited.
I have already configured FF to work with DRM content, this is a separate issue.

Isn't Amazon specifically blocking Linux desktop? It somewhat lingers in my mind they do

That's a good point, I'll try changing my user agent after work.

They may not be even looking at your user agent string, JavaScript exposes your os type. And I believe the Widevine plugin gives away even more info about your system

Amazon claims to support chrome/linux,
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer … =201422810
You can use Chrome to watch Prime Video on Linux/UNIX operating systems (including Chrome OS).
Edit: But HDCP (Edit: 2.2) support is really difficult on linux. nouveau probably does not support it. For intel graphics it is very new with kernel 4.17 I believe. If it uses that ugly encryption I don't watch it, so who cares ![]()

I'll give it a shot on my intel GPU, then, to check if Amazon is blocking Linux users or not. If they aren't, I'll give the proprietary NVIDIA drivers a try.
