Clementine is downmixing surround sound music to stereo. Amarok, VLC, Qmplay2, and Dolphin's preview panel all output surround sound properly. Same result with Gstreamer and VLC phonon backends. I'm using Pulseaudio.
I really hope this isn't a limitation of Clementine -- I've tried about a dozen music players and Clementine is the only one that works the way I like (Amarok falls short from not having tabbed playlists).
