Need help understanding Wacom Intuos Pro (model PTH660)

I have the Wacom Intuos Pro (model PTH660). I plugged it into a USB port and it immediately worked. The stylus selects any UI element and I can draw in Gimp, Krita, etc., with pressure sensitivity using the stylus. Touch input also works. So that's a good start. However, the tablet to screen aspect ratios need to be fixed, and I want to assign suitable actions to the various buttons.

My first step was to install xf86-input-wacom and kcm-wacomtablet. (I'm running KDE.) However, after installing those packages and rebooting, the stylus barely functions. It's hard to say what it is doing because it does a few random things occasionally, but it will no longer draw. Mostly it became non-functional. Interestingly, touch input continues to work correctly.

I tried adjusting all the various settings I found in kcm-wacomtablet, but nothing resolved the stylus problems. I uninstalled xf86-input-wacom and kcm-wacomtablet and I'm back to where I started -- a properly working stylus, less the buttons and an aspect ratio that needs to be fixed. I'm running dual monitors.

I am aware of Wacom tablet - ArchWiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wacom_tablet. However, I'm not sure where to start because what I'm experiencing does not seem to be addressed there. Would it be best to move forward without the xf86-input-wacom package? Or, if the package is recommended, any thoughts on why I'm seeing this strange behavior?
