Hey there,
I just found out that the tlp package ships with the wifi utility which lets me toggle the connectivity without providing my own script. It works fine from the shell. I mapped it to the corresponding function key (XF86WLAN) in my i3 config. Now every time I press it, it switches the wifi off for a fracture of a second only to switch it on again immediately after. The mapping works with any other key combination and I don't seem to have that problem with any of my other function key configurations.
Any ideas on that? What could I try?

Does the key bounce in xev?

Nope, oddly enough it doesn't. I'm sorry, that I can't provide any more information. I just don't have clue as to why this happens.

Either the script binding is bogus or the script triggers the shortcut as a side effect?
What happens if you don't toggle but only turn off the wifi?
