Microphone Crackling with Pulseaudio

Hello,
I have tried troubleshooting using the PulseAudio/Troubleshooting page and have not been able to resolve my microphone crackling problem. Since I just got the headset, I tested it on a laptop with Windows on it to make sure it was not the headset itself and it works just fine. Before this I had a USB headset and have never tried using the 3.5mm jacks. Both the front panel microphone jack and the jack on the mobo have this problem, which leads me to believe it is a software problem.

When I first tried using this headset, I had a problem where whenever I joined a Discord channel or call, I would hear crackly sounds, loud noises, and an echo. I fixed this by adding tsched=0 in /etc/pulse/default.pa.

I also thought maybe it was my sampling rate, as I had changed it to 44100 to fix audio crackling in my Windows 10 VM. But I changed it back to 48000 and the problem remained.

Hardware:
HyperX Cloud (Separate 3.5mm headphone and mic outputs)
ASRock X370 Taichi
Ryzen 1700 @ 3.9GHz
16GB Corsair Vengeance
EVGA 770 + G1 Gaming 1080

It happens in Gnome sound recorder as well as Discord. Any ideas?

EDIT: I noticed the mic boost was all the way up in ALSA and turned it down. Still hear the crackling.

EDIT 2: I even passed the PCI HD Audio Controller through to my Windows 10 VM and it sounds fine on Windows on the same physical machine.

Found a similar issues with the same hardware here

Re: Microphone Crackling with Pulseaudio

Hi. I have a similar problem. Sound recorded from my microphone contains crackly noises if recorded under ArchLinux, but is clear if recorded under Windows 10. (I have a dual boot configuration.) Three Linux programs record crackling: audio-recorder, mhwaveedit, audacity. It seems that Skype for Linux records clear audio. I did not have this problem with my previous motherboard and CPU. @retalak , did you found any solution?

Hardware:
- MSI B450-A Pro,
- AMD Ryzen 3 2200G,
- Razer Carcharias Professional Gaming Headset.

linux 4.20.1.arch1-1
lib32-libpulse 12.2-1
libpulse 12.2-2
pulseaudio 12.2-2
pulseaudio-alsa 2-4
xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin 0.4.1-1

we are not condemned to write ugly code

Re: Microphone Crackling with Pulseaudio

I have the same problem. Bought a new computer in August and moved the SSD to the new computer so didn't have to  reinstall Arch Linux. Around the same time my headsets microphone started having a crackling sound but I just though my headset might have been broken. But today i tested the headsets microphone on my laptop and the mic sounded just fine.

Hardware:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
Motherboard: Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING

Seems like there crackling bug might be related to Ryzen motherboards since all of us have Ryzen systems.

Same here, started for me after a switch to Asus B450M-K and a Ryzen 2200G as well.
it's but a mere annoyance but an annoyance non the less.

I found this kernel bug report that might be related to the problem: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195303
