I have installed xfce4 with adesklets for a nice looking desktop but I seem to have hit a couple of snags.
1) My xfce panel has disappeared. I had added an item to it and then disappeared. I tried removing the .cache/xfce4 directory with no luck. How do I get it back?
2) My apps and the desktop doesn't seem to have any sound. I can play music through mplayer so thats working but what about other sounds like from aMSN?
Is there a better file browser available? It doesn't seem to like my mime settings? I have to tell it what to use to launch something (like a doc file).
Thanks

1) you have to also remove the stale panel config you have in ~/.config/xfce4 , or ~/.xfce4, because the panel probably tries to load the plugin that crashes it.
2) If you don't mind some gnome around, put nautilus, else look around for Thunar or pcmanfm

Thunar is great, but I'm afraid it might cause some issues as it requires the svn version of XFCE installed, and the svn conflicts with the stable version. But the svn is great if you want to try it
Also, what you're looking for might be .config/xfce4 or something like that
