Helo everybody.
So, heres my story:
my machine started behaving oddly a few days ago
A bit later i got this message.
Bug: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereferance at virtual address
Anyway, a bit of tinkering with the hardware and i managed to boot it up.
So, now the ext3 filesystem is hosed. A good example of this is an /etc/rc.conf config file containing stuff like lib.so module.so and so on an so forth.
I tried running stuff like
fsck.ext3 but to no avail, it says it cant find an ext2 index. (WTF? ) yes i know that ext3 = ext2 + journalising, but still. Anyway, does anyone have any ideas how i could restore my filesystem?

Great, thanks (NOT!) for the help to sutch a supportive community.
Well anyway, i resolved the problem, appearantly /etc/rc.conf was the ONLY file that got damaged so i poped in a new one and the machine was ok. still very odd.
Lock or delete tread plz.

Just because no one replies doesn't mean they're being unsupportive. I, for one, didn't know anything about your error. Would you rather i posted nonsense?
Don't be a jackass, it makes you look foolish. If you don't get help, it never hurts to post more information. Personally, I can't make sense of your first post.

To tell you the truth neither can I, however most people are foolish when caught in sutch dire troubles. And i asked for methods of restoring an ext3 based file system, and actualy got replies in other places. Frakly this is propably becouse of the way arch works, you get everything instantly, prehaps i was expecting the response out of these forums
And ok, i admit, i am hot headed, and i am a jackass. Please point and laugh.

I'd suspect a RAM problem... please run memtest86 on your machine before more damage is done.
