Hello, well, I've been trying i3 for a couple days on a newly installed distro. I was configuring i3status, and at some point after a restart the error:
Error: status_command process exited unexpectedly (exit 2)
started to appear on i3bar. Running i3status on the terminal outputs :
input in flex scanner failed
I have since replaced i3status config with the defaults, replaced i3 config with the default, reinstalled it, rebooted a couple times, all to no avail. Also searched online for a similar error message, but i found scant little. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the "newly installed distro" actually Arch?
Have you checked that your locale is set correctly?

Yes, it is Arch Linux, and it is updated. And yes, the locale is set correctly.
Before setting the locale, it also exited with an error 2, but running it in the terminal outputed something else, i don't remember what exactly.
But after setting the locale, everything was going smoothly until that happened. I haven't made any changes to the locale either immediatly before or after the error, and changing the locale to the default en_US does nothing.
i3blocks works just fine, and i think i'll be using it from now on. Nevertheless, it's an unusual error i've never encountered before, and i'm curious about what's causing it. Also, if we find the root of the problem, it might help the next guy/gal who encounters it.
Does i3status have any logs where i could find aditional info?
