Re: [SOLVED] Chromium: No most visited pages in new tab

Get most visited tiles back: in chrome://flags set #use-google-local-ntp to Enabled

In case this turns out to be your next question, restore the old visual design of the New Tab page: in chrome://flags set #ntp-ui-md to Disabled.

(Above tips found in the user comments here.)

Weird things going on in Chromium nowadays. I had heard of the New Tab page changing in Chrome 69, but I'm still on Chrome 68 (my last pacman -Syu was on 29th August) and today all my New Tab most visited tiles disappeared as well without me upgrading anything. I also find myself having to relogin to a bunch of websites today - looks like it's lost my cookies. Who knows what will happen when I upgrade to Chromium 69 that is currently in the repos.
