Gnome Not Detecting Charging State

Hello,

I currently run Gnome on my Arch Linux installation on an MSI GT62VR 6RE laptop. Previously, the battery indicator worked as expected, but, now, when I plug in my charger, it takes anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours to realize that it is charging. If the charger is plugged in before gdm starts, then it detects that it is charging with no wait time. The laptop's hardware indicator light shows when it my battery is charging, and the percentage goes up even in Gnome's view while Gnome claims it is dischraging. The command `acpi -bai` gives seemingly accurate information, however, when my battery is full and my laptop is running off of the charger, it says the battery state is "unknown". I think that this issue happened after a specific update, but because it happened awhile ago (1-2 weeks, it took time to debug that it was a display issue and not something more fundamental like a failing battery) it is too difficult to determine which update in particular caused the issue.

How can I fix this? Has anyone else had anything similar happen?
