kobilusb card reader

Has anyone ever installed an usb card reader? Mine is an kobil KAAN standard plus (usb). If someone ever did, I would be glad for an idea.

Re: kobilusb card reader

usb-storage
sr_mod
sd_mod

these are the modules you have to load in /etc/rc.conf @ MODULES and you will have it @ /dev/sdXY

enjoy

Re: kobilusb card reader

... I won't offend you, but you are wrong. After doing heavy research, I found out you

- have to patch kernels prior 2.4
- compile an usb serial module
- add two libraries
- change settings in .CT_... file.

Wow. Hope this won't kick out my usb digikam. After I am through with it, I hope I can tell you more - allthough it might be a topic of little common interest.

i was definitely wrong ... i was assuming you speak of a chipcard-reader (CF, MMC, MS ...) and need usb-storage
http://www.s-buy-it.de/produktkatalog/S … etail.html
is what you were speaking about; sorry

i dont know about the patches or the serial module (there should be one already in the stock kernel ... not sure)

but what i can help you: if you mean by the 2 libraries the "libchipcard" and "openhbci" .. i have them (was experimenting around about a year ago with them) --- i will upload them to my TUR when recompiled (i keep only the PKGBUILD's on my hdd, because of space-problems wink )

Re: kobilusb card reader

are you using a kernel that preceeds 2.4?

from all my ventures in different forums those ARE the modules to load.

unless the current 2.4 kernel does not support your specific device then you should not have to do anything as fancy as patching your kernel and compiling modules.

this device is a ebanking-card reader ... meant for autentification for the ebanking --- i was also assuming first, he speaks about a "card reader" ... actually it's about "kartenlesegerät";,.  but maybe i'm again wrong (and i like knowing it from people that knows better!) wink
