[SOLVED]Unable to see SSD booting in UEFI

Hello everyone reading this topic and thank you for that!

I am trying to setup arch on my xps 9370. When I do command like:

lsblk

I can't see my SSD under devices, I can only see loop0 and sda (which is my usb with live media) hmm

Thank you for help in advance!
Have a great day smile

Oh, sorry Sir. I am not a native english speaker, but I will try my best.
To answer your question: Yes, I got live media onto my USB (8gb)

Re: [SOLVED]Unable to see SSD booting in UEFI

You have to change the SATA Controller from "RAID" to "AHCI" in your UEFI settings.

EDIT: I just saw that the wiki has this info on the XPS 13 9360 page but not on XPS 13 9370. Has this changed for the new model or is this point simply missing?

Thank you very much Sir! The answer you provided helped me! May I just ask why is that so?

Per default the XPS series uses fakeRAID which has to be processed differently meaning that the disk is not available as a normal block device and therefore not showing up when doing lsblk.
Since for most people fakeRAID is unnecessary it's just simpler to switch to AHCI mode where the disk is available as normal block device.

Should you ever want to setup RAID it's probably better to use software RAID anyway since there are not really any upsides to using fakeRAID (https://superuser.com/questions/245928/ … tware-raid)

PS: Don't forget to mark the thread [SOLVED]
