[SOLVED] Login Loop in GDM

Hey everyone,

I am encountering an issue where I am in an endless login loop unless I choose to login into Gnome.
I have tried editing permissions and a couple of scripts but none seem to work

My journal: https://transfer.sh/huslo/myjournal

If you need anymore information let me know

Re: [SOLVED] Login Loop in GDM

There seems no indication of non-gnome login attempts.
Please post a complete journal of the boot (after failed logins), skip the silly "-x" flag (it's just cluttering) and use a non-sucking pastebin service.

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F c=@- https://ptpb.pw

What permissions did you change, and what did you change them to?

What scripts did you edit, and how did you change them?

Re: [SOLVED] Login Loop in GDM

Here are the logs: https://ptpb.pw/mcke
Yeah transfer sucks, didn't know about ptpb

Here is another log with me repeatedly trying to login into KDE and i3: https://ptpb.pw/4Xsk

In response to Trilby, I was originally having a lot of problems with my display manager in general so I changed permissions of .Xauthority and .ICEauthority and tried every single dm and found that the only one that worked was GDM for some reason (i was orginally using SDDM as I use KDE). Now for some reason, i can only log in to GNOME not KDE or i3.

The only script i added was the one suggested on this forum: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=195692 as I was intially having a problem with a blank command prompt screen on boot which is solved by using GDM.

Re: [SOLVED] Login Loop in GDM

Oh wow I completely missed that. How should I fix it? It seems to be saying that it couldn't open a protocol file and that there is an error on line 67 of the synaptics.conf

Re: [SOLVED] Login Loop in GDM

Thanks Everyone!

Deleting the wierd '...' in the synaptics.config solved it! I think this happened because I installed a new synaptic driver right before the crash. I still need to get a lot better at reading logs but this definitely was a good learning process.
Have a great day!

Cool.
Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
