Well, I finally installed e17 (never bothered to get e16 to work), and OMG IT IS WICKED SWEET. Anyway, there's supposed to be an icon in the "start menu" labeled files to run the enlightenment file manager. As this is my main use for a gui, I was wondering why it doesn't appear. Is it not set up, or not packaged?

There was link called "Test Filemanager" or something very close to that. It was recently removed however.
The efm has been removed from the e17 main menu. You can still start it with enlightenment_remote -start-efm /, but be aware that it's disabled because it isn't currently working!

If I'm not all wrong there are two filemanagers for dr17, one is the one you mentioned and another one called "evidence", I assume that's what the previous poster was talking about

The file manager currently appears to be called "Entropy", and it is not very functional.

Where to get this Entropy? I installed E17 from repos but when I type
pacman -Qs entropy
pacman shows me nothing.
