Linux console keymap: Caps - Control switch problem - new Ctrl locks

I have a problem after following the instructions here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Li … figuration
I swapped the keycodes by making a personal keymap (keycode 29 = Caps_Lock, keycode 58 = Control - after checking codes with showkey), activated it using loadkeys and checked again that it works properly with showkey (all good up to here).

But now when I press the old CapsLock button - it acts like Control - but it also locks (in console use, not in showkey - there it says pressed / released, regular button behavior, with no extra information).

So, when I press and release the (old Caps, new Control) key my keyboard acts like Control is still pressed (like CapsLock would normally be). I try to press it again, but it won't unlock Control to go back to normal  behavior. It makes the keyboard unusable and I have to change tty with agetty (same problem if I change the KEYMAP variable in /etc/vconsole.conf to make it persistent at boot).

Any tips? Thank you!
