Caps lock as both escape and mod key

I know how to switch caps and escape by doing:

xmodmap -e "clear lock" -e "keycode 66 = Escape" -e "keycode 9 = Caps_Lock"

But Im not quite sure how to also set it as my mod key? Perhaps its as easy as to switch mod key in .config/i3/config to the new escape key (which is now capslock). But Im unsure as how to find the value (mod1, mod2..) for this key. If this now is the right solution..

But I have seen people saying that they use it as mod key on hold and escape on press. Or vice versa. Any Idea how to achieve this?

Re: Caps lock as both escape and mod key

With X.Org you can use this: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/comm … _64/xcape/

First you define it as a modifier key with xmodmap, then you use xcape to send the escape key on a short key press&release.

I have my super key ("windows key") set to the default mod4 behaviour and use it to send a custom shortcut with a short press.

xcape -t 200 -e "Super_L=Control_L|Alt_L|Super_L|plus"
