[solved]Make /dev/serial permanent

Currently 60-serial.rules create symlinks for serial devices in /dev/serial.
If no serial devices are attached, the directory is removed/not created.
Is there any way I could create another udev rule so that the /dev/serial directory always exists even if empty?

P.s. I reckon that this question would be best suited for the "System Administration" board but I can't post there for whatever reason.

Re: [solved]Make /dev/serial permanent

Well i solved it by putting

RUN+="/bin/mkdir --parent /dev/serial/by-id/"
RUN+="/bin/mkdir --parent /dev/serial/by-path/"

in a rules file

Please remember to mark your thread as solved.

And read the sticky in that subforum if you want to know why you can't post there. wink

I see why you did close that subforum, but doesn't it leave somewhat a big hole?
Have you considered making the "system administrator" forum available for posting to a subset of users?

If it was available to just a subset of users, it would be available only to those who read the sticky before they tried to post there.  So, you'd not qualify.

In fact people posting there without reading the stickied thread is exactly why it was closed.

Isn't your post a bit rude? I suppose that you never do any oversight.
I'm currently working in a car, moving from Italy to Germany and LTE connection is a bit intermittent, so when I saw that the subforum was closed I did choose not to investigate further, my bad I guess.

I am going to close this thread now, before it goes further pear shaped.
