I recently took a snapshot of my root partition before trying to change from nvidia to nouveau. There was an issue preventing me from booting into a graphical environment, so I merged the snapshot with `lvconvert --merge prenouveau_snapshot`, and because root was active, the operation was scheduled for next reboot.
The LVM start job has now been running for almost 5 hours even though only a few files where changed on an nvme drive. Plus, if I understand correctly, the merge operation is really just moving around some pointers, leading me to believe that the process is hung.
The start job notification is cycling between two tasks:
`(1 of 2) A start job is running for LVM2 PV scan on device 259:3`
`(2 of 2) A start job is running for Monitoring of LVM2 mirroring dmeventd or progress polling`
I found a couple of seemingly related bugs on redhat:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1429203
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1498080
However, I'm not sure what to do assuming it is hung. I can't get to a tty, so my only option might be restarting, but I'm worried that could result in data loss.
Any suggestions for how I can gather information about what's going on?

At 8 hours, I decided to risk it and powered down the system. Afterwards everything booted fine.
