I've moved the /var/cache/pacman directory to /var/cache/pacman~, and moved it's contents into a newly created /var/cache/pacman btrfs subvolume.
This may or may not be a good idea, but my trouble is that now I can't delete the pacman~ dir.
sudo rmdir pacman\~
rmdir: failed to remove 'pacman~': Operation not permittedsudo lsattr | grep pacman
------------------- ./pacman~
------------------- ./pacmanWhat am I missing here?

rmdir does not work for non-empty files. Did you try "rm -rf pacman\~" ?

I did -- same result.
I'm a little weirded out by this.

Ok. That was stupid.
Apparently, I've done this before and forgot about it. So the pacman~ dir is actually a btrfs subvolume. btrfs sub del pacman\~ did the trick..
Sorry for wasting your time!
