[SOLVED]"Freezing" when using chrome, chromium or playing games

Hello all,

I have been using Arch for a couple months now and all has been great. Within the past week or so I noticed that occasionally when I open a new tab on chrome or chromium, the browser will "freeze". I say freeze in quotes because I can still move my mouse, the keys that I enter while it is frozen are still being recorded and the freeze only lasts about 0.5-1.5 seconds. In the same time frame I have also noticed that while playing League of Legends via wine, the game will exhibit the same behavior when a lot is happening on the screen. The only difference is that I am visually unable to move my mouse. The keystrokes still seem to go through. The specs for my computer are:

Threadripper 1900x
GTX 1080ti
64gb ram
Arch Linux 64bit

All of my software is up to date. I run "pacman -Syu" every few days and don't prevent any packages from updating. Any ideas what could be causing my issue?
