How to know that there has been a release from archlinux?

Hi,

I was wondering why my pacman didn't update any package for several weeks or months now and so I checked the current release of kernel image on the archlinux website and notice that I was outdated.
It is only because I found a tutorial online: https://www.ostechnix.com/solve-startin … rch-linux/
that actually by using reflector tool to update the repo, I had new updates....
Why is that? Is there a point to that? I thought that archlinux was on a continuous line of updates? I guess that if no repo were accessible, there would have been an error message in pacman no?
Thanks in advance

Because whatever mirrors listed in your mirrorlist prior to running reflector were bad/broken.  Reflector fixed that problem for you.

I cannot remember the last time that I have not seen at least one package updated in a single day.

Here is a link that should specifically answer your question:
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sort=-last_update
