I've been trying to play this game in Firefox, and it's extremely laggy, dropping far too many frames. On google-chrome-stable, it is significantly smoother, but still drops frames every second or so. Is there a reason for this? So far, my googling has led me to believe that this is an issue with pixman, but it could also just be my Firefox config.
What I've tried so far:
- I added gfx.canvas.azure.accelerated = true (in about:config)
- I set layers.acceleration.force-acceleration = true (in about:config)
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I just checked the performance of both my Firefox and Chrome setups using CanvasMark. On Firefox, with force-acceleration and azure.accelerated on, I got 6678; on Chrome, I got 7587.
EDIT #2: I got 13742 on Firefox without force-acceleration and azure.accelerated. The game's still extremely laggy, though - that didn't really change.
EDIT #3: It turns out the engine the game's using is Construct 2; which uses WebGL by default and only switches to canvas2d when WebGL is disabled. Changed the title to reflect this.
EDIT #4: Setting layers.acceleration.force-enabled to true helped alleviate some of the frame drops; however, it still lags significantly.
EDIT #5: Other WebGL renders, like fishtank, perform really well >= 58 FPS. This seems to be an issue with Construct 2.
