I use Xscreensaver as a screen locker and its nice, but it doesn't indicate the current keyboard layout, which is a bit counterintuitive. Do you know of any similarly lightweight screen locker that would show the current key layout?
There is a list of lockers on wiki page: Screen Lockers. But if you could save my time, it would be nice.

In xscreensaver's settings you could select the "StarWars" screensaver and on "Text Manipulation" select "/usr//bin/localectl" as "Program".
