I have the package gnome installed and I'm running the gnome desktop environment. When I try to open the settings, either via the gui or via the terminal, it won't open. When running gnome-control-center in the terminal I get the error message
cc-object-storage:ERROR:../gnome-control-center/shell/cc-object-storage.c:167:cc_object_storage_add_object: assertion failed: (G_IS_OBJECT (object))
[1] 6417 abort (core dumped) gnome-control-center
I've tried reinstalling gnome-control-center, but that didn't work.
How can fix this?

I'm a long time user and the same error is stumping me, 10 months after the original post. I think this is fair for me to bump.

Do you have NetworkManager installed? If not install, enable and run it.

Solved. This will happen if another network manager is running. In my case it was connman. Gnome is pretty tightly coupled to networkmanager, apparently.
