Integrated webcam stopped working

Hi, the webcam integrated in my Dell XPS 15 9570 stopped working. The various applications using it (skype, cheese, ...) see no device while they used to wor fine up to some days ago. I get a lot of lines in dmesg like:

[    6.760434] usb usb1-port12: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
[    6.760479] usb usb1-port12: unable to enumerate USB device

They for sure refer to the webcam since they disappear if I disable the webcam from the bios. I don't know what might generate the messages (broken hardware? Buggy webcam which does not behave well with USB autosuspend?), so I'd appreciate any help in trying to troubleshoot this issue.
