[Solved] Accidentally removed notmuch from /usr/bin

Dear members,

Happy Holidays!

I accidentally removed notmuch from /usr/bin with sudo rm -r /usr/bin/notmuch.

I tried to install it but after installation the /usr/bin file still doesn't exist and the program doesn't launch.

the command which gives:

which notmuch
which: no notmuch in (/home/lima/.scripts/statusbar:/home/lima/.scripts/.getkeys:/home/lima/.scripts/cron:/home/lima/.scripts/i3cmds:/home/lima/.scripts/tools:/home/lima/.scripts/:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/site_perl:/usr/bin/vendor_perl:/usr/bin/core_perl)

I googled and searched for a possible solution in this forum but couldn't find any.

Please help!

pacman -Fo /usr/bin/notmuch
usr/bin/notmuch is owned by community/notmuch-runtime 0.28-1

Hey loqs,

Please forgive my ignorance I checked the link you posted but couldn't get it.

$ sudo pacman -Fy
[sudo] password for lima:
:: Synchronizing package databases...
 core is up to date
 extra is up to date
 community is up to date
$ pacman -Fs notmuch
community/notmuch-runtime 0.28-1
    usr/bin/notmuch
    usr/share/bash-completion/completions/notmuch
$ which notmuch
which: no notmuch in (/home/lima/.scripts/statusbar:/home/lima/.scripts/.getkeys:/home/lima/.scripts/cron:/home/lima/.scripts/i3cmds:/home/lima/.scripts/tools:/home/lima/.scripts/:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/site_perl:/usr/bin/vendor_perl:/usr/bin/core_perl)

Should I just change ownsership?

Thank you much.

No you should explicitly reinstall the notmutch-runtime package as opposed to the notmutch package.

No, you just need to reinstall the package that contains the file you deleted.  You said you reinstalled the package `notmuch`, that is the wrong package.  Loqs command was not a solution, but was a tool to point you to what package needed to be reinstalled.
