libscmclient error in mpd

I had to reinstall arch and tried to use my old configurations for my mpd setup which was working flawlessly but the now mpd hasn't been working properly. I have a system-wide mpd installation and have an external DAC as my main ALSA card. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but everytime it doesn't work I get libsmbclient errors:

I also have pulseaudio but my old asound.conf configuration which worked well:

    card 0
    slave {
        type pulse
        fallback "sysdefault"
        hint {

        }
    }
}

ctl.!default {
    type hw
    card 0
    slave {

doesn't work anymore. ALSA complains of unknown slave. At the moment the default asound.conf provided by pulse:

defaults.pcm.card 0
defaults.ctl.card 0

is the one working. I'd like to know how to setup asound.conf with my DAC as default instead of pulse.
