Hello, I have spent much time on this and cannot seem to get it right. I have mounted the drive with only select folders having rw permissions and others with only read only that I am unable to open. I have found no correlation between folders that are read/write or read only, except the folders inside the root of the ext. hard drive are all rw. I have tried many solutions, and I also have hfsprogs and hfsutils. I have tried
Mounting and remounting and remaking the mount point
sudo umount /run/media/rossy/"Rossy's Time Capsule"/
sudo rmdir /run/media/rossy/"Rossy's Time Capsule"/
sudo mkdir /run/media/rossy/"Rossy's Time Capsule"/
sudo mount -t hfsplus -o force,rw /dev/sdb2 /run/media/rossy/"Rossy's Time Capsule"/ All of these code snippets have ran successfully but still the I do not have full access to the drive
I have tried this
sudo fsck.hfsplus -f /dev/sdb2
I have tried disabling journaling on the ext hard drive with this c file
[rossy@darf ~]$ cd Downloads
[rossy@darf Downloads]$ gcc /home/rossy/Downloads/W8pfgHRe.c -o W8pfgHRe
[rossy@darf Downloads]$ sudo ./a.out /dev/sdb2
[sudo] password for rossy:
attributes = 0x80000100
kHFSVolumeJournaledBit not currently set in the volume attributes field.
journal has been disabled.
It returns this of course after I had initially run it.
Every single folder inside the root I have access for rw, but the folders inside the folders not in the root of the ext. hard drive I do not have access to all. Would I have to mess with the fstab file? I tried that before and screwed up my system.
Here is the lsblk

... I do not have access to all ...
If this is the actual problem, elaborate on this. Specifically, what does it mean to not have access to them? What commands are failing and with what error messages? What is the output of `ls -l` on files/directories you do/do not have "access" to?

Sorry for the late response. All of the commands run successfully with no errors. for the ls-l on my ext hard drive
in root where I have permissions to change the things inside the folder video library, not including the things inside the folder. Here is the ls-l

Something with the colorcoding, stuff that was read only was blue, whereas my video library was purple which was rw, but not including child directories.

All of the commands run successfully with no errors.
That's clearly not the case, or you would not be posting here for help.
But it looks like it's simply a matter of permissions. Most of those directories are 503:root ownership and the ones you claim to have problems with are only rw for the owner, those you can access are world rw'able, and those that you can only read are read-only for world.
So everything is as it should be. If you want to change permissions on certain files or directories, do so with chmod.
